Twilio Email has added support for dedicated IPs and IP management, which gives you more control of your sending reputation.
You can group multiple IP addresses into custom pools to separate different types of email traffic. For example, you could place marketing and transactional email in separate pools, giving you more control over how each stream is handled.
If you provision a new dedicated IP, Twilio automatically places it on a 41-day warm-up schedule. During this period, the amount of email sent through the IP needs to be increased gradually.
This gradual increase helps establish a sending history with mailbox providers such as Gmail and Microsoft. Your sending patterns and engagement can influence how those providers handle your email.
Twilio also includes shared pool overflow protection during the warm-up. If your sending volume exceeds what the dedicated IP should handle at that point in the schedule, some traffic can overflow into a shared pool. This gives you a way to handle unexpected volume increases without putting the entire spike on a new IP that is still building its sending history.
Twilio also lets you assign specific dedicated IPs to sub-accounts. This can help you keep sending programs or traffic streams separate when you manage multiple sub-accounts.
Lastly, you can configure fallback options for your IP setup. If the primary sending route cannot handle the traffic, the fallback configuration provides another route for sending rather than relying on a single IP path.
