Perplexity has added Computer in Email, an AI agent for your inbox that lets you start complex tasks by sending, forwarding, or cc’ing computer@perplexity.com. Perplexity says the feature is available to all Computer users today.
You can forward a thread with attachments and ask Computer to act on the task. It reads the conversation and attachments, then runs the task using your existing connectors and permissions. It then returns the results in the same thread. Excel models, PDFs, and presentations can return as attachments.
Some of the tasks you can think of simplifying with Computer in Email include campaign analysis, reporting, and document review. You might forward a performance report and ask for a summary, or send a planning thread and request a first-pass spreadsheet.
Computer can use memory from previous sessions, including terminology, preferred formats, and decisions already established elsewhere.
For privacy and security purposes, Computer verifies the sender and only replies to that sender, so you cannot yet use a normal Reply All workflow. However, Perplexity says it’s working on introducing Reply All support for Enterprise users.
