Microsoft Outlook Adds Meeting Ownership Transfer Within Organization

Microsoft Outlook is adding the ability to transfer ownership of a meeting or recurring meeting series to another person in your organization.

The new feature is scheduled to start rolling out in September 2026 across Outlook for Windows and the web, as well as the Teams calendar. The new organizer must accept the transfer before it takes effect.

The transfer preserves the existing event for attendees, which means recurring meetings will not be affected.

It is important to note that meeting ownership transfer is limited to transfers within your organization. Also, the person taking ownership has to accept it first for the owbership to take effect.
