Amazon SES Introduces New Pricing Plans

Amazon SES Introduces New Pricing Plans

AWS has introduced new Amazon SES pricing plans. The new plans bundle paid email delivery features into three tiers: Essentials, Pro, and Enterprise.

Previously, if you wanted advanced Amazon SES features such as managed dedicated IP addresses, email validation, or inbox placement monitoring, you had to purchase them as separate add-ons. The new pricing model bundles these features into subscription plans based on the tier you choose.

New Pricing Plans

Amazon SES now offers three subscription plans:

  • Essentials Plan: Includes basic email sending and built-in deliverability insights.
  • Pro Plan: Adds managed dedicated IP addresses, email validation, and global inbox placement visibility to help you identify delivery issues before they affect your emails.
  • Enterprise Plan: Includes everything in Pro, plus multi-region failover, workload-level reputation isolation, and an annual deliverability assessment for eligible high-volume senders.

If you only send transactional emails or newsletters, the Essentials plan may be sufficient for you. If email deliverability is critical, the Pro plan includes tools designed to improve inbox placement and sender reputation without purchasing separate add-ons. For large-scale deployments that require higher resilience and reputation management, the Enterprise plan provides the most advanced features.

Cost Changes

Before, Amazon SES charged $0.10 per 1,000 outbound emails, while additional features were billed separately as add-ons. Under the new pricing plans:

  • Essentials: Starts at $0.16 per 1,000 emails for the first 10 million emails per month.
  • Pro: Starts at $0.22 per 1,000 emails, plus a $105 monthly fee per account per Region.
  • Enterprise: Starts at $0.23 per 1,000 emails, plus a $500 monthly fee per account per Region.

Although the per-email price is higher than the previous standard sending rate (now the à la carte), the plans include features that required separate purchases as add-ons. If you already pay for services such as managed dedicated IPs or deliverability tools, a bundled plan could lower your overall costs. If you only need basic email sending, the à la carte model may still be the more economical choice.

For existing users, Amazon will automatically place your account under the à la carte pricing. You can change to new plans whenever you choose.

For new SES accounts and old accounts with no SES usage activity since June 1, 2025, AWS will automatically place you on the Essentials plan beginning July 21, 2026. You can upgrade to another plan or switch back to à la carte pricing at any time.

You can check your pricing options by signing in to the Amazon SES console and opening the Pricing section (as shown in our account screenshot above), or by visiting the public Amazon SES pricing page.
