Twilio just announced that OAuth 2.0 client credentials for Organization API access are now generally available.
Twilio has also introduced two new public APIs:
Role Assignments API, which allows administrators to assign user roles programmatically, and Roles API, which lets organizations retrieve and manage available role types through code. Together, these additions make it easier for businesses to automate administrative tasks that previously required manual intervention.
Support for OAuth 2.0 and SCIM means IT teams will be able to automate user provisioning, role assignments, and access management. Employees can be added, updated, or removed automatically through Microsoft Entra ID, reducing administrative workload while helping organizations maintain consistent security policies. This also strengthens security by allowing applications to authenticate directly with Twilio instead of relying on individual user accounts.
Organizations that want to use the new functionality will need to create an Organization OAuth application through the Twilio Console or Legacy Console before configuring OAuth credentials and, if desired, setting up Microsoft Entra ID SCIM integration. Customers who do not require automated user or role management can continue using their existing setup without making any changes.
