Our Observations
One key observation from our research is that most top e-commerce websites use custom-built mailer systems that connect to an SMTP provider rather than relying on hosted email marketing platforms like EmailOctopus, AWeber, Mailchimp, or Kit. This approach significantly lowers email-sending costs and provides complete control over customization and automation options. However, it requires technical knowledge to configure email delivery and security settings properly.
When it comes to email providers (for creating business emails accounts), we found that most large e-commerce websites use Google Workspace.
Among the best email service providers, SendGrid is the most widely used among top e-commerce websites, followed by Oracle Marketing, Mailgun, and SparkPost.
